Reed Exhibitions Greater China’s latest CSR effort supporting artificial limb donations has raised over USD 14,000 to help individuals walk again and rebuild their lives.
The company’s 2015 charity initiative – the first coordinated activity of the newly created RE Cares China Team – is supported by The International Church of Shanghai (ICS). The program is based in Yunnan Province and specializes in providing custom-made artificial limbs for the needy.
In a display of solidarity across Greater China and the Reed family, the efforts of Reed Exhibitions Greater China and its member company employees were supplemented by donations from the RELX Group, resulting in a combined donation of over USD 14,000.
"It has long been part of Reed culture to give back to the communities," notes Reed Exhibitions Greater China’s recently appointed President Hu Wei. "Over the years, we’ve attached great importance to our CSR campaigns and playing an active role in making our communities better places. By means of this year’s initiative, helping these individuals rebuild their lives and walk again brings a fulfilment to all of us that is truly beyond words."
The money raised will be used to finance the purchase of more than 100 artificial limbs along with crucial rehabilitation support. In an effort to further drive donations, the amount also supported Reed Exhibitions Greater China’s participation at the 7th Annual ICS Charity Golf Tournament that took place on 5 June 2015 (pictured). Artificial limb donation served as the charity event’s focus. The popular golf tournament is one of many successful charity events organized by the International Church of Shanghai (ICS), of which Reed Exhibitions Greater China is a regular supporter. This year’s collaborative effort was yet another charity triumph resulting in a combined total of over RMB 1,000,000 (USD 161,100).
